James graduated in Podiatry from Curtin University. He started his career working with the National University Hospital (Singapore) where he became the consulting podiatrist to the Orthopaedics and Paediatrics departments in the hospital. He went on to become a senior Podiatrist with the high risk foot clinic of Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, where he also acted as the clinical supervisor for the university clinical program.

James also has special interests in children’s foot conditions and has published a paper regarding rotational disorders in children’s legs. He also has interest in sports podiatry and has performed many surgical procedures in his career. James has completed a Master Degree and has advanced qualifications in paediatrics, biomechanics and podiatric medicine.
